PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a printer in which the shooting position of an ink drop in the main scanning direction can be corrected accurately in the going stroke and the returning stroke at the time of bidirectional printing. SOLUTION: In the printer having an ejection head for forming dots on a printing body by ejecting ink drops and printing a pattern having a plurality of subpatterns for correcting the shift of dot forming position in the going stroke and the returning stroke of main scanning onto the printing body using the ejection head, the shift is corrected based on two or more of the plurality of subpatterns having a peak in the density.
