PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a motor-driven gun which reduces the spotting speed of a welding machine and allows a motor temperature during pressurization not to rise higher than a predetermined temperature by setting the maximum number of revolutions of a motor output shaft to the rated number of revolutions or more during the movement of a movable arm. SOLUTION: The motor-driven gun moves the movable arm 8 by driving a pressurizing shaft 7 via toothed wheels 3, 11 from the output shaft 2 of a motor 1, a ball screw 5 and a nut 6. The maximum number of revolutions of the motor output shat is set larger than the rated number of revolutions or more during the movement of the movable arm, and a tooth ratio between the motor output shaft and the input shaft of the bal screw is set so as to reduce the number of revolutions of the motor output shaft.
