PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic stirring device for continuous casting which eliminates the need for setting an electromagnetic coil to a preliminary mold, and a method for using the device. SOLUTION: In the electromagnetic stirring device for stirring molten steel in the mold of a continuous casting machine by applying a moving magnetic field to the molten steel, the replacement of the mold can be performed in the state that the electromagnetic coil is retreated, by providing a coil truck which horizontally moves the electromagnetic coil used for the electromagnetic stirring over a casting floor from the back of the mold.
