PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a floor material which can prevent water, ammonia or the like from entering from the side surfaces of the floor material, and can be prevented from swelling. SOLUTION: A paint reservoir groove 2 is formed at the end section of the surface of a raw plate 1 for the floor material. The side surface, which is remote from the outermost end on the side where the paint reservoir groove 2 is provided of the raw plate 1 for the floor material, among both side surfaces of the paint reservoir groove 2 is formed as a vertical surface 6. Then, a water- resistant paint 4 is applied on the surface of the raw plate 1 for the floor material, and at the same time, the paint 4 is applied in the paint reservoir groove 2. After the paint 4 has been cured, the paint 4 which has been applied to the paint reservoir groove 2 is cut to the vicinity of the lower end of the vertical surface 6 from above along the vertical surface 6 so that the paint 4 may remain on the vertical surface 6. At the same time, a protruding section 5 which protrudes to the external side from the vertical surface 6 at the lower section of the vertical surface 6 is formed by cutting off the raw plate 1 for the floor material.
