PURPOSE: A printing device and a printing method are provided to improve a printing speed and to reduce a burden of a host by preventing excessive use of the hose through separately assigning a storage area for bit map data. CONSTITUTION: A printing device has a memory for storing bit map data. Firstly, it is determined whether or not image data is printed with black and white or various colors(10). If it is determined that image data is printed with black and white, a black area for storing bit map data regarding a black is assigned in the memory(12). If it is determined that image data is printed with various color, color areas for storing bit map data regarding at least three colors are assigned in the memory(16). After that, image data are converted into the bit map data and stored in the assigned areas(20).
