<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide catalyst powder that is excellent in heat resistance by preventing the sintering of an activated alumina and a noble metal, and to provide a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst powder 1 is prepared by mixing a first catalyst powder 7 having a noble metal such as rhodium 5 supported on a first catalyst support 3 comprising alumina, zirconia and a precious metal with a second catalyst powder 17 having the noble metal such as platinum 15 supported on a second catalyst powder 13 comprising alumina, a Ce-Zr composite oxide and a rare earth metal.
