PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for controlling insect pests having an excellent insect controlling ability, capable of readily performing control over the end point (the loss of chemical effects) and surely confirming a reduction or the end point of an active ingredient of an insect pest controlling agent and having composite functions such as antimicrobial, antifungal, deodorant or aromatic functions. SOLUTION: The apparatus for controlling the insect pests comprises the following. A volatile substance holding body has a first and a second volatile surfaces. The first volatile surface holds an insect pest controlling ingredient volatile at normal temperature so that the insect pest controlling ingredient can be volatile into the air and the second volatile surface is capable of holding a liquid which is volatile at normal temperature and is provided so that the liquid can be volatile into the air. A liquid feeding means feeds the liquid to the second volatile surface in the volatile substance holding body and a liquid housing means houses the liquid fed to the second volatile surface with the liquid feeding means. An indicator means is provided with the liquid containing a perfume, an antimicrobial or an antifungal agent or a deodorant and volatile at normal temperature and capable of indicating the residual amount of the insect pest controlling ingredient volatile from the first volatile surface in the volatile substance holding body as that of the liquid in the liquid housing means.
