PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sewing-up efficiency by reducing the standby and the number of the times of rotating tatami (rush mat) by a flatly stitching machine or a reverse-stitching machine in a step for sewing up a hem to the front part or the rear part. SOLUTION: The tatami sewing up apparatus is provided with: the flatly stitching machine A on either the side of the front part 2 or the side of the rear part 3; the reverse-stitching machine B on the other; and a controller. The controller controls the apparatus so that the apparatus flatly stitches the front part 22 or the rear part 23 of the tatami, thereafter rotates the tatami within a horizontal surface, flatly stitches the residual rear part 23 or front part 22 of the tatami and simultaneously reverse-stitches the other part as it is.
