PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cross-linkable photochromic molecule which can make a biofunctional molecule change the structure reversibly and a driving reagent for the biofunctional molecule which can generate mechanical energy by photo- irradiation. SOLUTION: The cross-linkable photochromic molecule is indicated in formula (8a) or (8b). The driving reagent for the biofunctional molecule is bonded to two thiol radicals in the biofunctional molecule via the maleinimide radicals in the formula (8a) or (8b) to cross-link the thiol radicals. The distance between the thiol radicals can be changed within a constant range by irradiation of an ultraviolet ray or a visible ray. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
