PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent skewing of a medium, generation of jam, and an end surface gall, in a mechanism by which a medium having different width is trued up, carried, and stopped at a correct position. SOLUTION: After the medium is trued up to a carrying reference surface side by a medium pressing guide, the pressing guide is retuned in a reverse direction by such a deflection that the flexible medium is pressed extra, and retained its position as it is until the medium is carried to a printing position, so that the width of a carrying passage can be most suitably retained even for the medium having the different width.
