PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for lengthening a discharge time of a battery are provided to lengthen the discharge time of the battery by connecting alternately the first battery and the second battery to an electronic instrument. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for lengthening a discharge time of a battery includes the first battery(BT1), the second battery(BT2), and a battery switching circuit(100). The battery switching circuit(100) is used for connecting alternately the first battery(BT1) and the second battery(BT2) to an electronic instrument in order to control the power provided to the first battery(BT1) and the second battery(BT2). The battery switching circuit(100) performs a control operation when the discharge voltage of the battery(BT1) or the second battery(BT2) connected to the electronic instrument(20) is lower than the reference voltage.
