PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous thermoplastic resin printing material which prevents a peripheral resin except a part illuminated with a laser beam from being melted and which can obtain a clear shadow by obtaining a sharp edge and to provide the porous thermoplastic resin printing material which does not become a sticky material even by engraving in a deep depth by completely combustion evaporating a resin of the part illuminated with the beam and does not generate an engraving scrum, and can hence eliminate a cleaning step after processing. SOLUTION: The porous thermoplastic resin printing material is obtained by mixing the thermoplastic resin, a water soluble compound, metal oxide-coated mica and/or mica and, as needed, an additive or the like, then molding the mixture to a sheet, and removing the water soluble compound from the sheet.
