PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide collision preventing method and apparatus for a traverse trolley of a crane, in which a deceleration point can be changed depending on actual speeds of a trolley during traverse movement, burden in a manual operation can be lighten, a region having an adverse effect on sway prevention of lifted cargo during automatic operation can be suppressed to the minimum. SOLUTION: The deceleration points XSLD near both ends of a traverse span S are obtained based on a speed VPT of the trolley 104 during traverse movement. Deceleration is started at a time point where the trolley 104 reaches the deceleration points XSLD, and then is stopped at a stop point XST. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
