PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that causes slack and wrinkles of the paper taken-up by fluctuation of the take-up tension due to the embracing angle to a guide roller of the carrying paper in a tension control device for taking-up paper. SOLUTION: The tension control device for taking-up paper consists of a detection part 4 of rewinding coil diameter, a setting part 3 of an embracing angle of a guide roller 24 and an operation part 6 of the embracing angle of the guide roller and a servo driver. The detection part 4 of rewinding coil diameter detects the diameter of the rewinding coil 21. The setting part 3 of the embracing angle of the guide roller sets up the minimum embracing angle of the guide roller 24 corresponding to the minimum diameter of the rewinding coil 21. The operation part 6 of the embracing angle of the guide roller calculates the present embracing angle of the guide roller from the present value of the rewinding coil diameter detected at the detecting part 4 of rewinding coil. The servo driver controls the position of the guide roller on the basis of the position control signal from an output circuit 7 generating the position control signal controlling the position of the guide roller from the present embracing angle calculated at the operation part 6 of the embracing angle of the guide roller.
