PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating liquid for forming an image in which the image having a high image density, a high quality can be obtained at a high speed on plain paper without feathering, without bleeding in a color boundary and without disorder in the image due to a drying fault of an ink and without bringing about a skin contamination or the like in an image recording system for forming the image on the paper or the like via an image formation and an intermediate transfer by an ink jet method and to provide a method for forming the image by using the same.

SOLUTION: The treating liquid for forming the image comprises a cationic high-molecular weight compound.
