PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a kneader for rubber or a rubbery composition, preventing the rubber or the composition from remainding improperly in the kneader in during kneading and applying sufficient kneading work to them. SOLUTION: The kneader for the rubber or the rubbery composition is equipped with (1) a barrel 5 having a chamber 6 being a cylindrical cavity part, (2) a cooling route 8 formed in the barrel 5 and provided to the periphery of the chamber 6, (3) a twine-screw set 4 rotated in the chamber 6 to apply shearing force to the rubber and extruding the kneaded rubber to a downstream side and (4) kneading blades (11 and 14) incorporated in the screw set 4 as segment members to knead the rubber in the space formed along with a inner wall 6a of the kneader. The kneading blades (11 and 14) are partially notched at the top parts 19 thereof and has spriral blades each having a length not shorter than the outer diameter D of the screw set 4 axially provided thereto and is adjacent to another segment members (12 and 15) having parts discontinuously changed in shaft cross section on the downstream side.
