A brush holder for commutator machines, has several commutator brushes (15) designed for friction-locked seating on a commutator of the machine, of which each one is axially displaceably inserted with play in a brush-cartridge (12) and acting on by a brush pressurizing spring (16) supporting between the cartridge (12) and commutator brush (15) in the ejection direction from the cartridge (12). A retention element (20) is used as an assembly aid in the brush cartridge and blocks the spring-loaded commutator brush (15) from being ejected from the brush cartridge (12) following removal of the tight-fit with the commutator brush (15) after assembly. The retention element (20) forms an integral part of the brush-cartridge (12) and is designed so that the tight-fit can be removed by a slight tilting of the brush (15) in the cartridge (12). |
