<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately, quickly and easily classifying/ discriminating brewing yeasts in high reproducibility and in a very short term, enabling discriminating not only yeasts for different applications such as wine yeast and Sake yeast but also yeasts for the same applications such as Kyokai wine #1 yeast and #3 yeast. <P>SOLUTION: The method for discriminating brewing yeasts comprises the steps of amplifying the genomic DNA of each of the brewing yeasts by PCR technique using a primer which amplifies part or the whole of YIL169C gene, subjecting the amplified gene fragments to direct agarose gel electrophoresis or restriction enzyme (e.g. RsaI) treatment followed by agarose gel electrophoresis treatment, and judging the difference between the electrophoretic patterns obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
