PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of easily washing a twin-screw extruder used in the treatment of an aromatic polycarbonate in a short time without disassembling the same and capable of stably producing the aromatic polycarbonate with a high molecular weight excellent in hue and reduced in the content of foreign matter over a long period of time. SOLUTION: A depolymerizable compound having a specific viscosity-average molecular weight is supplied to the twin-screw extruder used in the treatment of the molten aromatic polycarbonate to be kneaded.
