PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vise that fixes a work in a highly stable manner and is highly applicable to general purposes with the capability of fixing a variety of types of works. SOLUTION: The vise 1 comprises a base member 4 mounted on a horizontal thick plate, a vise body 5 erected and fixed on the base surface 4a of the base member 4, a movable body 6 set in the vise body 5 and can be moved vertically, a movable block 8 fixed to the movable body 6, and a base block 9 mounted on the base surface 4a, where the base block faces the movable block 8, to receive a work W. The base block 9 is fixed to the base member 4 in such a way that it can be attached or removed freely. Also, clamp members 65, 66 are arranged between the movable block 8 and the base block 9, the clamp members attached or removed freely, in order to make the clamp members come in contact with the work W to sandwich and hold it.
