PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve increase of an encoding/decoding system to be supported as an image processor at low costs. SOLUTION: An image data conversion part 2 that performs conversion in a decoding system which is not supported by a facsimile body 1 is connected with the facsimile body 1. Upon receiving data, an ability information part 106 informs a facsimile machine 4 on the opposite side of an ability including the decoding system which is supported by the image data conversion part 2 as the ability of the present machine. When data in a system which can not be decoded by the facsimile body 1 is received, an image data processing part 104 transmits the data to the image data conversion part 2. The image data conversion part receiving the data returns it to the facsimile body 1 by decoding it. The facsimile body 1 receives the data and outputs it as image data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
