PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure excellent communication independently of many or few of the number of connected terminals in a power line communication system for performing time division multiplex communication by using a power line network via distribution lines. SOLUTION: An input output impedance is set to a low impedance value for ease of matching at time slots ta, tb, tc designated for communication and the input output impedance is set to a high impedance for time slots not designated. Thus, the communication can be maintained in the best state at all times for the designated time slots. The input output impedance is set to the high impedance value for the time slots that are not designated to avoid any effect is given on the communication of the MODEM for other power line communication connected to the power line network.
