摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure and method for mounting optical element by which high self-alignment and high-accuracy horizontal and vertical positioning can be realized by utilizing the surface tension of melted solder. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical element mounting structure in which electrodes formed on an optical element and electrodes formed on a substrate are connected to each other by soldering, soldering electrodes are composed at least of first soldering electrodes provided at four peripheral positions and second soldering electrodes provided at other positions. The electrode areas S1 and S2 of the first and the second soldering electrodes are adjusted to meet the relation of S1>S2. In addition, average solder heights H1 and H2 (the volumes of solder supplied to the soldering electrodes/electrode areas) of the soldering electrodes are adjusted to meet the relation of H1<H2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
