<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit image data without caring the required resolution on the side of a receiver when transmitting the image data and to receive the image data of the required resolution by the receiver without useless receiving. <P>SOLUTION: In the image transmitting/receiving method for transmitting/ receiving the image data recorded by a progressive compression form, on the side of a transmitter, the image data recorded by the progressive compression form are transmitted successively from the image data of a low resolution to the image data of a high resolution. On the side of the receiver, the header information of an image file transmitted from the transmitter side is received (step S20), and a target resolution is calculated from an image size (maximum resolution) in this header information and the resolution required for the receiver side (step S22). Then, the image data are received successively from the image data of the low resolution to the image data of the high resolution and when the image data are received to the image data of the target resolution, following receiving is stopped to finish the receiving processing (steps S24 and S26). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
