PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless television system capable of providing a program having no deterioration in image quality, when a transmitter is connected to a receiver. SOLUTION: The wireless television system, provided with a transmitter 100 and a receiver which can be connected/disconnected to/from the transmitter 100, is provided with a video/audio signal directly supplying means for directly supplying a video signal and an audio signal, which are obtained by a reception circuit in the transmitter 100 to a program providing means in the receiver, when the receiver is connected to the transmitter 100. Also, the system is provided with a power source control means for stopping supplying power to a data compression/transmission circuit 10 and for stopping supplying the power source to a data reception/expansion circuit, when the receiver is connected to the transmitter 100.
