PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile communication system in which a double-side or single-side communication can be surely performed in the case of a retransmission when a communication error occurs in the case of transmitting mixed double-sided and single-sided information. SOLUTION: A facsimile equipment capable of the double-side communication has a means for reporting the presence/absence of a receiving function for the double-side information from a receiver to a transmitter, a means for reporting the presence/ absence of a receiving function for the mixed information of the single-sided and double-sided information, a means for designating the transmission of the double-sided information from the transmitter to the receiver and a means for designating the transmission of the mixed information of the single-sided and double-sided information and when single-sided and double-sided transmitting originals are mixed and the receiver of a party has the receiving function of the mixed information of the single-sided and double-sided information, a communication designating the transmission of the mixed information is tried. When the receiver of the party has the receiving function of the double-sided information, in the case of the retransmission falling to the communication error, the communication designating the transmission of the double-sided information is carried out.
