A method for granulating feedstock, comprising the steps of: providing a first feedstock of a specified size (10); providing a binder material having a moisture content; contacting first feedstock with binder; forming a pre-moistened mixture of binder and first feedstock having a moisture content (14), introducing the pre-moistened mixture onto a pan granulator (28) containing second feedstock differently sized from the first feedstock; maintaining a new moisture content and forming first granules on pan (28) directly from contact of the pre-moistened mixture and said second feedstock in the absence of seed material.
