A method for physiological disorders in plants from the group of watercore, corking and bitterpit, caused by extreme environmental conditions. The method comprises applying a finely divided particulate matter to the surface of the plant, wherein the particulate material comprises a heat treated particulate which when applied permits the exchange of gases on the surface of the plant, wherein the applied film has a thickness from about 1 ìm to about 1000 ìm.
