The fastening for fixing adjoining parallel timber planks (10, 11) to a support consists of a metal plate with a recessed rectangular centre section (1) with a hole (2) for a screw (20) and vertical sides (12, 13) connected to horizontal side vanes (14, 15) that fit into rounded slots (5, 6) in the planks' facing edges. The fastening is fitted to the edge of a first plank and screwed down before the next plank is positioned. By using slots in the upper and lower surfaces of planks the fastening can also be used for steps.
