<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new configuration for a mass multilayer recording medium by utilizing light reflection on an adjoining interface between materials with different refractive indexes, and to provide a recording and reproducing method and a recording system in a mass multilayer recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: A multilayer recording medium provided with at least two or more recording layers is constituted so that a recording layer is formed in a laminated structure of different types of materials with different refractive indexes, and interfacial reflection of the different types of materials is used for at least either reading of recorded information or reading focus information and tracking information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
