PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a remote controller to discriminate the state of a power source in the main body of equipment such as a video display device or the like using a plasma display device. SOLUTION: The remote controller is provided with a power command receiving part 21 capable of receiving a command for controlling the state of the power source of the equipment, a power command remote control pulse generating part 22 capable of outputting the ON/OFF signal of the power source of the equipment as a remote control pulse, and a power state detecting part 23 capable of detecting the power source state of the equipment and commanding generation of a power source control command.
