PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trap missing detection system and method in an IP network which can easily detect missing of the final trap to be transmitted from an NE in an NMS of the IP network using an SNMP. SOLUTION: Each NE transmits a trap with a sequence number attached thereto. An NMS, when receiving the trap having the sequence number attached thereto, stores the received trap, the sequence number and a reception time thereof in a database, detects a trap missing at the time of receiving the trap with use of the sequence number, periodically judges whether or not a predetermined time elapsed from the reception time of the final trap stored in the database. When the predetermined time elapsed, the NMS inquires about the sequence number of the trap finally transmitted to the corresponding NE to detect the final trap missing from the NE.
