The striker for a stamping machine (3) with a chassis (20) and a striker slider that moves relative to it between maximum extension and retracted positions between guides has a manoeuvring assembly for the slider in the form of a primary arm connected to the chassis by a pivot with its axis of rotation perpendicular to the direction of the slider's travel. The other end of the arm is connected to the slider by a link that allows the rotary movement of the arm to be converted into a lengthwise movement by the slider. The assembly also contains an actuator for the primary arm.
