APPARATUS FOR PREPARATION OF OPTICAL FIBER PREFORM

PURPOSE: An apparatus for the preparation of an optical fiber preform is provided, to effectively reduce the entrance taper-part formed on the short part of a quartz pipe for reducing the loss of a material. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a torch(20) which heats a quartz pipe(12) with moving along the length direction of a rotating quartz pipe, wherein the torch is installed to allow the flame emitting hole(20') to turn towards the moving direction of a torch or its reverse direction and to be slope. Preferably the degree of slope of the torch is in the range of 10-60 degree to the moving direction or its reverse direction if the slope is 0 degree when the torch and the quartz pipe are perpendicular. The optical fiber preform is prepared by evaporation-deposition, collapse and closing processes, and the flame emitting hole of the torch turns toward the reverse direction of the moving direction of the torch in evaporation-deposition process, and the flame emitting hole of the torch turns toward the moving direction of the torch in collapse and closing processes.
