PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of managing other nodes, based on the IEEE Standards 1394. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus comprises: a means for reading management information stored in a terminal node connected over a network for showing the managing condition of the terminal node; a means for writing identification information in the terminal node for showing that own apparatus manages nodes, if the management information contain no identification information of other control nodes; and a means for managing the terminal node.
