PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus capable of performing simple transmission power control with higher accuracy without causing substantial efficiency reduction in comparison with the transmission power control wherein the improvement of efficiency at transmission has the highest priority. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus of this invention is configured to comprise a power amplifier 522 for amplifying a transmission signal at a gain Gp in response to a bias voltage Vc and controls the bias voltage Vc in response to a target output power Pout* to enhance the efficiency at low output transmission while satisfy the linearity standard at transmission and to set the dependence characteristic of the bias voltage Vc with respect to the target output power Pout* so as to take precedence of the maintenance of linearity of a gain change with respect to the target output power Pout* rather than the improvement of the efficiency at transmission in the case of a range of output powers P1 to P2 including a maximum output power Pmax.
