PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital filter coefficient setting apparatus and a method therefor in which the data of filter coefficients are generated at high speed and the data of arbitrary filter coefficient can be generated. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a configuration composed of a processor 104 including a digital filter, a means 109 for inputting a parameter, a coefficient storage means 108 for storing the data of prescribed filter coefficients beforehand, means 109 and 110 for searching the data of a filter coefficient corresponding to the inputted designation parameter out of the stored data of the filter coefficients and acquiring an address where the detected data of the filter coefficient are stored, a means 102 for acquiring the data of the filter coefficient corresponding to the acquired address, a means 106 for generating the data of the filter coefficient on the basis of the inputted parameter when the data of the filter coefficient are not detected, and a means 103 for transferring the acquired or generated data of the filter coefficient to the processor.
