PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device and a recording and reproducing method capable of minimizing the omission of information in an area where disturbance such as an impact is generated without omitting the information other than the one in a data area where the disturbance such as the impact is generated and suppressing the feeling of incompatibility at the time of reproduction as much as possible for a user. SOLUTION: At recording operation, in a data buffer 1, a buffer area for recording data from a data input means 4 from the detection of mechanical disturbance by an abnormality detection means 5 to the point of time of not detecting the mechanical disturbance anymore is managed as a abandonment area with priority by a data transfer management means 3. When the overflow of the data buffer 1 is generated, the recording data for the overflow are temporarily stored by using the abandonment area as a ring buffer.
