PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording and reproducing device, in which the recording/reproducing operation of a signal is performed with respect to the disk by an optical pickup. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a pickup control circuit 5 for operating the control of the optical pickup 3 and a servo state detecting circuit 14 for detecting the level of a servo signal obtained by the pickup control circuit 5, and is constituted so that the recording operation is interrupted when the recording is decided as becoming to the not recordable state by the level change of the servo signal and also the recording operation is restarted after the recording speed is changed to the low speed.
