[Also in Division A4] An anchor nut for securing e.g. a leg (3) (Fig. 1, not shown) to a frame (2) of furniture comprises a plate 1a having a screw receiving aperture 1c in a raised portion 1d of the plate and a barbed extension 1b which, in use of the nut, is driven into the frame of the furniture to be anchored thereto and arranged for receiving a screwthreaded member (3a) on the leg (3). The aperture 1c is arranged to deform upon receiving the screwthreaded member so as to provide locking engagement. Furthermore, the edge of the aperture may follow a helical path of such pitch as to cause an interference fit with the threaded member (3a). The nut may be moulded from plastics material and the aperture 1c may be provided with a plurality of helices. The plate la may be flat or curved.
