PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an information processing system to assure the processing orderliness in data update. SOLUTION: A data storage device 1 stores version numbers while making them correspond to stored data. When data in client devices 3, 4 is referred to or when an update request is transmitted by the client devices 3, 4 to the server 2, the version number is provided together with the data. The server 2 updates the data in response to the update request only when the version number provided by the client devices 3, 4 at the update request matches the version number made to correspond to the data that is an update object at the data storage device 1.
