<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably specify an imaged area of a pattern for camera calibration using the pattern without reducing the number of marks in the pattern, even if only a partial area of the pattern is imaged. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for setting the internal parameters or external parameters of a camera, a photographed image is obtained by picking up a calibration pattern by a camera in which black pattern elements and black-and- white pattern elements are arranged on a plane. Then, a continued black area and a continued white area are obtained by quantizing the picked-up image, the black pattern elements and the black-and-white pattern elements in the photographed image are distinguished based on the obtained black area and white area, the pattern elements in the photographed image are associated with the pattern elements in a space based on an arrangement relation between the distinguished black pattern elements and black-and-white pattern elements, and the internal parameters or the external parameters is determined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
