PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor for quickening reading speed and without data omission of an output signal of a light receiving element. SOLUTION: The image sensor quickens the reading speed by reading only optional pieces of data according to resolution in reading and skipping reading of useless data when it exists and has no data omission of the output signal of the light receiving element by providing switching elements that connect between output terminals of all of a plurality of light receiving elements that output the output signals according to light receiving quantity, optionally conducting the switching elements according to resolution being from the maximum one to the one of its 1/n and holding output of their average value in the respective sample-and-hold circuits at a plurality of the same potentials.
