PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal barrier rib for PDP with not only the insulating property but also the high reflective characteristic. SOLUTION: In the metal barrier rib for the plasma display formed of a metal substrate with a large number of through holes, an insulating layer-an Al layer-a reaction preventive layer is formed from the surface side. Preferably, the insulating layer has the composition mainly consisting of, at least one kind of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, SiO<SB>2</SB>, ZrO<SB>2</SB>, MgO, TiO<SB>2</SB>, and glass, and more preferably, the thickness of the insulating layer is 0.5 to 10.0μm, and further more preferably, the thickness of the Al layer is 0.05 to 0.40μm, and the surface roughness Ra of the Al layer is≤0.5μm.
