The present invention relates to a herbicidal composition which contains at least one sulphonylurea compound and a synergistically active amount of at least another herbicidal compound, and to a method for controlling the undesirable vegetation, which comprises applying a sulphonylurea and one or more herbicidal compounds, before, during, or after the emergence of the undesirable plants, either simultaneously or in succession, or treating the leaves of crop plants and of undesirable plants with a sulphonylurea (a), of the formula as defined in claims 1 to 4, and with one or more herbicidal compounds, simultaneously or in succession.
