Benzothiepines, derivatives, and analogs thereof; methods of preparing such compounds; pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds; and methods of using these compounds and compositions in the preparation of a medicament, particularly medicaments for use in the prophylaxis and treatment of hyperlipidemic conditions such as those associated with atherosclerosis or hypercholesterolemia, in mammals are disclosed.
