PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load on a user in operating an AV amplifier or the like. SOLUTION: An AV amplifier 1 has three states of 'non-set state', 'button set state' and 'remote control set state'. In the 'button set state', a microcomputer 12 correspondently writes identification information corresponding to a pressed button among buttons 118 to 120 and the setting state information of individual functions of the AV amplifier 1 at present in a state memory 14. In the 'remote control set state', the microcomputer 12 extracts a code pattern from a signal transmitted from the remote controller of the other equipment and supplied via a light receiving part 117 and correlates this code pattern with the identification information. In the 'non-set state', the microcomputer 12 extracts the code pattern from the signal supplied from the light receiving part 117, reads the setting state information corresponding to this code pattern out of the state memory 14 and supplies setting signals based on the relevant setting state information to individual setting parts 15 to 17.
