PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate copying even if copy guard is applied. SOLUTION: FEM signals including margin bits read from a CD 10 are stored in a buffer 46 after compressing the margin bits for one bit in an EFM copy circuit 44. The write start position of a CDR 40 is detected in a WBL detection circuit 48, and data read from the buffer 46 are expanded so as to write the EFM signals including the margin bits from the position, then supplied to a strategy circuit 36 and written to the CDR 40.
