<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process image data by switching resources corresponding to the request by a user. <P>SOLUTION: In the image processing apparatus and the method therefor for processing the image data by utilizing the resources within the apparatus according to a processing instruction inputted with the image data, a plurality of resources are held being classified for the purposes, the resource to be used for image processing in the plurality of resources is set for the purposes in the initial state and the resource to be used for image processing in the plurality of resources is set for the purposes.
