<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture with high yield a fuel cell electrode having desired compactness and gas permeability without affecting the opposite side face of the cloth in the manufacturing process of the fuel cell electrode formed on the base material of cloth. <P>SOLUTION: This is a manufacturing method of a fuel cell electrode that comprises a step S01 for coating a slurry containing electrode particles, water repellent particles, and a viscosity improver on the electrode collector material as a conductive water-repellent layer, a step S02 for drying the conductive water-repellent layer in the oxidation atmosphere at a first temperature as a preset temperature so as to remove the viscosity improver, a step S03 for heat treating the conductive water-repellent layer at a second temperature as a preset temperature, a step S04, S05 for forming a reaction layer on the surface of the conductive water-repellent layer. Provided that, the first temperature is same or higher than the temperature at which the viscosity improver is oxidized and lower than the temperature at which the water repellent particle melts, and the second temperature is same or higher than the temperature at which the water repellent particle melts. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
